Singapore is proud to present a range of hand-made art creations, specially designed by home grown award-winning artistic talents, to the APEC Leaders, Ministers and their Spouses.

2    To reflect the diversity in local artistic talents, APEC Leaders, Ministers and their Spouses were presented with gifts of sculptural art pieces based on different materials. A group of artists, each renowned in their respective fields, was selected in consultation with Singapore’s National Arts Council.

3    Contemporary metal-based art pieces, created by established Singaporean sculptors Chong Fah Cheong and Chieu Shuey Fook, were presented to Leaders and their Spouses respectively.  For Ministers and their Spouses, ceramic art pieces created by experienced local ceramicists were given – Ahmad Abu Bakar, Lim Hua Choon and Jessie Lim produced gifts for the Finance, Trade and Foreign Affairs Ministers respectively, while gifts for the Ministers’ Spouses were produced by Lim Kim Hui (please see Annexes A-F).

4    For Leaders in particular, Mr Chong had specially created a bronze sculpture in the shape of the infinity ring. The continuous ring structure suggests the ongoing concern of APEC members to improve economic standards and enhance growth and development of the global community. The woven design reflects the networking systems and the multi-level negotiations, while the random organic convoluted shapes reflect varied landscape and the challenges of the global market.
